I have the new inverter and the MPPT controller in. The 12 battries stacked (with industrial double stick between them). Wiring them in 3 banks of 4 (48 +/- VDC). Boxing them up in a small corral to keep them safe. I just picked up a Smart Phase Selector so i can use the 50 amp wiring with the inverter with minimal changes. I told that guy the coach has 10 gauge wire from the transfer switch and he was surprised. He recommended 6 gauge. I am hoping to have it all in and half the solar up for the Florida Free wheelers rally next week. Have the DC surge suppressor to put in today, a master fuse and an isolation switch. Hope to have it online by Sunday.

Realize FL & WI never see lightening storms , but have you guys considered a Lightening Arrestor (or two)? Added one from Midnight to my PT100. Amazon sells ones from both Midnight and Delta.

It's on my list to install. I had a lightning strike very near to the bus last summer that blew out a serial port on one of my shop machines, but the bus was unphased. Probably just lucky. I like the Midnite stuff.

I’m in south Florida. I used to fix fire alarms. A few times I got calls on lighting strikes. One time I got to the site and the board was still smoldering with a tennis ball size hole burnt in it. We had all kinds of suppression and they still get hit. I know the coach is grounded but I wonder if I should add a heavy wire to a ground rod when I park it at home?

In the Navy I used to be responsible for 5, 60KW gen sets. We had a 6th in as a hot spare. I think I talked about the wire gang I was part of when we set this up. Everywhere we took the thing (for dog and pony shows and one real time) I had to put in a ground delta. 3 rods in a triangle. The engineers had given us diagrams to ground the system. Each rod was connect to the other and certain parts of the system were grounded to particular rods. We still took hits. We had huge APC battery backups with power conditioners all over and they usually got fried when we got hit. One time we lost a server stack and that was a day.

Not going to be able to get any solar going before we leave this week. Few more weeks for those.

I did get the inverter in and I found this.

It saved me a lot of grief putting in the inverter. I’ll be working up to the time we leave to get the LiPos up and running.
