I've mentioned this before as well but this is a good opportunity for a reminder.

I have installed/serviced and/or replaced a number of gas/electric refrigerators in RVs including the one in my original bus conversation, 2 Wanderlodges, a Holiday Rambler, & a number of other class As and trailers. I have yet to find one original installation that conforms to the OEM install specifications; specifically the design of the "chimney". Every one has been deeper than specified, allowing the cooling air to circulate around the cooling fins rather than through the cooling fins. If the gas/electric refrigerator is replaced with a residential type, this issue is moot. However, if you, like me, use the original refrigerator, it should be pulled out and the cavity modified to meet the OEM specs. That will allow your fridge to cool better in hot weather and further mitigate the fire danger. Look up the OEM specs for your particular unit and then check the distance between the coils and the back wall of the cavity. Remodel as needed.

That's a good point Tom. I have seen that information before. Had a house fridge in my last bus, but have not made the switch on this one yet. Never seemed to have the time Lousy excuse but I'm sticking with it.

Quoting my Dad, "That's a REASON, there is no EXCUSE!" All joking aside "remodel as needed" probably holds the record for "Shortest instructions for a time consuming and difficult job! It is definitely a royal pain in the butt. However, determining whether or not you have the problem is not. Just open the access to the back of the fridge and look up the chimney with a mirror. The ones I have seen are not a little out of spec. Usually they are 3" to 8" too big. My present coach has is about 5" out of spec and I have the same reason as you for not correcting it yet. But, I have identified the problem and, I am told, that is half of the solution. Not sure that is exactly accurate........
