Default M450 Generator Radiator Cooling Fan Motor

We are on the road and our genset cooling fan motor is starting to whine.
Has anyone replaced the electric motor and might you have a part number.
I cannot get my eyes or camera on the motor and would like to have it ready when I disassemble the bay the fan sits in.
On Monday I’ll try CoachCraft too and post my findings.

Thank you.

Hi Tom,

Not sure this is even the same fan motor you're asking about, but here's a Thread about replacing an M450 generator Radiator fan motor... Unfortunately, the part number was not listed. Perhaps a private message to Bryan Altier would help?

Good Luck!

The job is finished thanks to John and Bryan.

Sorry this is late to the post, but after installing the first motor from Grainger, bench testing it, then installing it, the motor failed with a seized bearing. It ran about 5-8 minutes.
I again removed the blower assembly and ordered a new motor along with a new fan as the old fan had a bit of a wobble.
Second bench test was good. The new fan had the same wobble as the old fan but I left it in there. Now 30 hours in and we are good with temps just below 175 as before.

This job is a pain in the butt. The hydraulic jacks can be pulled out of the way and set just outside the opening. I did re-route the hydraulic hoses and wiring bundle to the bay ceiling. This removed them from running along the back wall right next to the motor. Bryan Altier coached me on that.

The trick is to make sure you identify all the aluminum channels (4) that hold the bellows to the blower housing. Then, in the blind on the bottom and the right side of the blower housing get a screw stated through the bellows and aluminum channel. HA! Then find the screw hole. With one found and done it is easier to get the other two holes.

After installing it twice now, I think I could help on another.

I still need to tidy up the compartment and cut a few cables to the inverters a little bit shorter, but it will hold till we get home late October.

Here is a photo of the aluminum channel, three screws on each side and the bellows. Also the Dayton manual, courtesy of Mike B.

Hi Tom,

Glad that Brian and Mike B. were able to help you.

Thank you for taking the time to update the thread (especially the tips, pictures and part numbers!)

I went back and edited the thread title to include "M450" and then I made it a "Sticky Thread" to help with future searches.
