I am a Patriot, and anytime i see someone with a hat stateing the war or other they served in
I make a beeline to them, thanking them for their service and time spent.
Most of the time they thank me for my time,i make sure they know i did not serve.
So thanks to all of you that served.
Heros one and all.

Yes you are a Patriot! There is nothing wrong with the fact that you and others have not "served". Sometimes circumstances make it impossible to serve. That should never be looked down upon. All of us that have served should never look at someone that hasn't in a different light. We either "chose" to serve or were "told" we were "going" to serve. I was in college at the time and had poor grades, which changed my eligibility from II-S to I-A. Given the circumstances, with Vietnam, I knew it was a matter of time; so I went to the draft board and went "Voluntary Draft". I was told I didn't need to do that, because I was number 3 on the list. I did it anyway to insure I would speed things up so I could get it over with, instead of waiting, who knows how many years. I had already passed my physical the year before and knew that was not an obstacle. So, yes, I served, but I did the least amount of time I had to. That really isn't very honorable. There are many here and everywhere, that "truly' served for 20 or 30 or more years. Those are the real hero's that we celebrate today. Of course then there are those that we celebrate on Memorial Day that deserve the most praise, but that is another story and another day. God Bless the USA!

Thank you and you are welcome. I served in the Air Force and Air National Guard from Feb 1972 until Feb 2009. I worked F-102, F-106, F-4, and F-16 aircraft. Glad to have served and would do it all again.

Also thanks to our families as they supported us and served in their own way.
