Operating Gage Values
Hi All,
What are the ideal or nominal values for the many gauges on a Wanderlodge with regards to all the systems? I know that's a pretty open ended question, but I can't seem to find the values that would help me determine target pressures, temperatures, etc.

Coolant: My fan comes on indicating just over 160 on the gauge.
Oil pressure: My bus holds 75 psi Again, if the owner has the blue box, the standards will be in the manual. The manuals are also here on WOG. Try this: https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.com/downloads/

Oil pressure 25-75 PSI at operating temp depending on RPM. 25 PSI at hot idle, 75 PSI on the road. Coolant 180-190, fan kicks on at 190°F, drops at 180. Can stay lower depending on ambient. Ambient impacts these quite a bit. Also chassis heaters on, they pull quite a bit of heat away.
Oil temp can get up to 225°F especially at freeway speeds. Trans temp can go all over the place, but typically settles at 200°F at highway cruise. It can spike high (up to 300°F) when converter is unlocked and pulling hard. This is OUTLET to the cooler, so it's all but useless. Sump temp would tell a much better story. These engines have a lot of iron, they take a good while to heat up and cool down. 30 minutes of driving to get to operating temp isn't hard to believe. Longer if idling. Air pressure varies between 90-120 PSI on the road, bear in mind it's only telling you front and rear brake system, no aux gauge. Voltage should be about 13.5-14 give or take. I had trouble with my gauge reading low, batteries were getting fed just fine, turned out to be voltage drop on the circuit to the ignition switch. Had to do some rewiring. I see up to 13# boost and can send my EGT to the moon. Function of pump that's turned up. I took one full turn of fuel out of it and should go more. Takes some finesse to learn how to handle a hot pump on a turbo/no CAC unit, you can turn them up and get black smoke and power right up until you melt pistons in the bores. Factory would have had this thing run up to 8-9# max boost and 800-900°F max post-turbo EGT. This could consume a thread and makes for popcorn munchers if we get into the weeds here. NA has neither gauge for obvious reasons, no turbo no worries. Max governed RPM on NA unit is way up there, can see 3000 RPM. Turbo no CAC 2600 RRM.

Kris, something i read a long time ago about the 8.3 Cummins,it had to run at WOT full load on the dyno for an hour before the crank was up to operating temp.
I was amazed to read that.

Thanks Chris for the detailed write up. I plan to work through all of the "checklists" for evaluating the coach, but I couldn't seem to find much information on the normal operating values for some of them. I figured this would be helpful in identifying issues while I am doing the first startup/test drive.
An hour at WOT is surprising to me as well Randy
