Jim Scoggins passed away
Jim Scoggins passed away today in Virginia. He was the owner of 86 PT40, M380, and Prevost Liberty. A great friend and a sad loss.

Hello Ernie,
I’m very sorry to hear of your friend Jim’s passing. I met him several years ago at a Rally In The Valley. He was a very knowledgeable Bird owner who answered several questions that I had about my first Bird. Our sympathy goes out to you and to his family. John & Nancy Wyatt

Ernie,
We too got the call yesterday about Jim. He was a great friend and will really be missed. In addition, our thoughts and prayers are with Lindsay, Jim's wife. John

Really sad to hear of his passing. Jim was one of the main reasons that I ended up with a mid-80's PT 'bird. He coached me on what to look for and avoid. Sadly, we never met, only talked on the phone and via emails. One of the funniest posts that I ever read was the story about his rear-end gears going out on I95 down in SC. If someone can locate it in the archives somewhere, please repost it. That would be a great tribute to his knowledge and demeanor. Many of the "fixes" and improvements on my coach came from his postings on the Vintage Birds site. RIP Jim.

RIP Jim.
Arley Roe has Jims old pt40,and Jim always asked me how the coach was treating Arley! not how Arley was treating the coach. Thanks for posting,Ernie. Randy 93wb

i just got more info on Jim.
it seems he was working under his coach when the air leaked out of the air bags and he was crushed. Jim was a big guy,and prevost are low when they are not aired up. This can happen to any of us,so make sure you block the coach up if your going under it. Randy
