Default Travelling up East Coast in April

Vadie and I are going to pick up "HER" coach in April and will be travelling north mid April.
What is the weather like on the east coast during this time. What is the possibilities of snow and all?
Thinking of going up Hwy 95 then onto 81 into Canada.

Thanks in advance.

Bill,
My daughter was born on April 5th, 26 years ago. It snowed that morning, the cold squeeky kind of snow (you know, when the tires make a squeeky sound rolling over it). But normally in New Jersey it is not snowing in April. As far as getting into New Hampshire, Maine, and further North, I am not as sure. But if it does snow, it won't last more than a day or two.
Also, the main roads are usually plowed (and salted ) right away.

But wait!

Maxton is in April (8-12) and then there is Birds at the Beach, April 13-18, so if you partake of these events, you will have nothing to worry about!!!!

I agree with Gardner, here in northern Vermont we get a foot of snow in April, but if you can wait a day for the roads to clear (usually the stuff will melt) then you should have no problem if you're caught in a spring storm.

With these heavy buses watch out for MUD. Yes, it is mud season. Any ground will be soft, 16 tons of bluebird will sink in fast. A lot of campgrounds don't have roads that will take a heavy rig this time of year, and forget about driving out into the overflow field.

Bill & Vadie,

These rallies will fit right into your travel routes, giving you access from Interstate-95 to the beach at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina via four lane routes and then to Maxton, North carolina via 95% four lane routes and then from Maxton over to Charlotte, North Carolina via Interstate 74 / US 74, Interstate 485 around the southern edge of Charlotte over to Interstate 77 north which intersects with Interstate 81 in Virginia.

'Birds At The Beach is held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and usually the weather in the Carolinas at that time of the year is fairly mild and foliage and plant life is starting to bloom, so it is a colorful time of the year, there are no rally fees at either rally only a campsite fee at Myrtle Beach. These rallies run into each other with part of a day figured in for the 105 mile trip from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina up to Maxton, North Carolina, which we do as a group, or you can also do it individually too. Check out;

Wanderlodge Owners Group > Takin' it Easy > Rallies, Shows, and Organized Events > 2010 'Bird's At The Beach Rally (Myrtle Beach)

Maxton is held at the track and the only additional cost here is a $5.00 admission fee for the entire event, it will be a dry camping event so this will give you and a chance to try out the generator for an extended period while it powers the battery chargers and maybe an air conditioner or two on VADIE'S 'Bird;

Maxton Directions And Pit/Camping Area Revised

Here are a couple of weather links for you to check out;

http://www.myrtlebeachweather.com/temperatures.html

This one is the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's National Weather Services Graphical Forecasts for the Mid Atlantic States and can be used in different ways by placing your cursor over different topics that are listed.

Here is one that I find very useful in my travels here in the lower 48 states, National Weather Service Enhanced Radar Image Loop, National Mosaic - Full Resolution Map you can access local radars anywhere on the map by placing your cursor over an area and clicking on it;

Bill and Vadie,

If your travel plans include the Downstate NY area, April weather is usually ok. Generally chilly and it's unusal for a snowstorm then. We've got 30 amp at my house and shop that your welcome to plug into if you'd like. Very easy access to NYC if you'd like to check that out also.
