Default Asheville - or not

I was heading to the Clegg's in Maggie tonight as I had a 1-2 day gig in Asheville until sometime in the middle of the night, which just cancelled, which I just found out about as I picked up the phone to call the Cleggs.

I'm still in the mood to go somewhere cooler than Augusta through Saturday night, anyone game?

We're headed to Cross Creek tomorrow for three days if you're in the neighborhood!

Hit Maggie's Galley in Waynesville. Great seafood (yea I know, Seafood in the mountains .... but really, it's great!)

good idea. There's a German place we have missed the last few times going north out of AVL that deserves another visit as does my favorite downtown place. Maybe that on Friday.

Some of the best tacos you will ever have are found at food trucks on highway 25 just south of Arden. I can't tell you exactly where because it seems like they move every time I'm up there. It helps if you speak Spanish while ordering. They are authentic.

Today was a bit of a drag, my toad (08 Mini Cooper S) decided to run poorly not far from camp, nursed it to a rental car agency not far from camp and we are running around again courtesy of Enterprise, I'll grab up the Mini on Saturday on our way out of town. Hopefully tomorrow goes smoother. Had some good tacos in Hot Springs, NC though, a newer restaurant called the Mosaic Gourmet.

Put about 200 miles on a newer Chevrolet Colorado x-cab pickup today. Good truck, a lot better than I had expected, really and evidently the 4x4 has TC Neutral for those considering one as a toad.

Ran 19 to the BRP, then US-441 up to Townsend/Cades Cove and did the loop, the Jeep road over to the Dragon (Parsons Branch Rd) was closed if you were wondering. Back out and across the Foothills, then slayed the Dragon (US-129) in the Colorado, what we would call 'Station Wagon Runs' in competition driver training, Jim Brookshire will understand. I admit to surprising more than one Porsche by pulling away from them in the twisties, just dial in the steering and punch it. Picked up the upper part of the Moonshiner (NC-28) down to US-19 and then US-74 back to Waynesville. Turned it back in and limped the Mini back to X-Creek which is good since hooking it up in Waynesville might have been trickier. Making lemonade out of lemons or something!
