Default Wire hanging

There is a purple wire hanging down inside the R/R tires of my 87FC.
Looks like it has been dragging on the ground and the end has been chafed off.
Does anyone have a clue what it should connect to ?
Can't get under the bus to look until this weekend when I have the time to get it blocked up safely.
Thanks, Fred

I think I have a purple wire that runs to the temp sender on the differential, I’d have to look to be certain but if you temp gauge isn’t working that could be the wire.

Check the front lower face of fuel tank for intact fuel sensor wiring: low fuel or water in fuel wires perhaps.
