Default M380 Slide Seal Development, by DRI

Folk,

Thanks to Bruce Robbins and Doc&Linda for getting me a sample of the M380 slide seal and retainer. If there's interest, I'd like to get DRI going on a die and extrusion for a replacement seal. I'm going to send Roger Anderson at DRI a sample of the seal to get his take on reproducing it. I'd also like to work with the M380 membership to see if there are any improvements that need to be made to the seal. In the meantime we know that there will be a setup charge in the neighborhood of $1500 for the tooling. I'd like to get a preliminary show of hands of who may be interested in contributing to the setup charge. Thanks!

Here's some pics of a small segment of the M380 air seal and retainer.

The seal measures 7/8" wide by 9/16" high. The foot measures 5/8" wide.

The retainer measures 1 1/8" wide by 3/4" tall. The retainer is double sticky tape adhered to the bus body and fits between the body cutout and the slide. The slide inflates radial-inward toward the slide body

The air seal snaps into the retainer.

Default Slide seal

David, count us in, too. We also have a rear seal. Will there be a smaller version as well?
