Yes I believe you need to be in neutral to start. I assume you have the keypad transmission shift not an actual shifter? Mine has the manual shifter and you can not start it if it isn't in neutral.

If an engine alarm went off it shut down for a reason and you really shouldn't restart it until the problem is solved.

I think you can get under the coach and manually shift it into N.
If your oil overheated i suspect you don't have any coolant in the radiator.
did you check that?

The bulk oil is a self contained unit,it will not change colors.

All diesel engine oil is black, what does yours smell like?

Several of us have tried to call, turn your phone on please.

Default nothing's going to be stolen in Texas

ok thank you Rick first of all and to everyone else that participated in my anti theft ring here in Texas I've posted a 1986 8 v 92 having a problem with shutdown driving through a rainstorm I inadvertently hit the anti-theft button on the dash thinking it could help maybe it didn't but I am a bit smarter now since I know how to not be able to steal my own Bluebird A / T is not all terrain so I hope at least I provided everyone with a good belly laugh holy cow just save myself 50 grand now onward through the fog and by fog I
mean the fog that I make for myself one less thing to know thanks guys

ok for the next newbie mess up I was talking to Rick which helped me through my anti theft problem and got a little excited about the engine actually starting I tried to cut it off hoping not to maybe cause a bigger problem so trying to kill the engine that would not shut down after 3 seconds of running I pulled the lever that says pull to stop and now the engine turns over but from what I understand I am depriving it of air because of the lever that I pulled so how do I reset the air restriction

Push it back in. Worst case you can go back to the engine bay and manually move it.

It does not kill the air.
it pulls the fuel lever to the off position.
its right on top of the engine, center, and towards the rear of the coach.
