Default New Tires but date code 2014

I am purchasing Michelin tires, I requested that the date code be at least mid 2015, but the tires he has for me are mid 2014. What effect does the tires have of just being stored.
I am thinking of not purchasing these tires, because it is not what I asked for, and I know there is a lot of talk about tires which are 7 - 8 years old. These tires are already 2 years old but no miles on them.

I don't know the relationship between you and the supplier, but if I asked for something and he was trying to shove something else on me, I would go someplace else. I would also not accept anything prior to 2016 if it was me.

From what i have read, tire dates are tire dates, old tires sitting in a building are still old tires.
I would not buy them.

UNLESS,they pro rate them, give a discount on them.

I bought 6 new tires last year. I asked for latest date code. When I got home I was checking date codes and found them mixed. Some a year older than others. I called the tire shop back and requested that they change them out to match the later date codes. Reluctantly they agreed and I took the bus back to get the tires changed to later date codes. Reason being is date code is everything on these buses. Tires are generally changed out based on date code and not wear and tear. You want those 2 years of time on your bus not the shelf.

We put two new Bridgestone tires on the front of our fire truck in February and they were dated 2016 . I was happy to see that .

I bought new tires thru the Michelin Advantage program a couple of years ago. The dealer helped me search thru his inventory stack to find the best dates. They were only a few weeks from manufacture date. Granted DFW Texas is a pretty high volume hub for trucks, tires, etc so our volume probably allows us to get the freshest dates.

Your dealer might be trying to get rid of the inventory he has in stock.

I say. No deal. It's your money and you want fresh tires. Put those old ones on a truck and they will wear out before they get old.

What week of 2014..

I purchased 2 tires from Kal Tire in Hope, they were exactly what I wanted but had been in a storage container for about a year so they gave me a discount on them to below Advantage pricing that satisfied me..

They did not use the advantage program, since using the program would have caused the tires to come out from the Michelin warehouse...

Assuming a 7 year life span, I would insist that he pro-rate them. I purchased through the Michelin Advantage program a few years ago and the tires were 12 weeks old when they went on the coach. At that time, 315's were around $560 plus $50 for mount/balance through the program.

I guess the Advantage pricing is in US dollars, and the current exchange for us Canadians is an "Advantage killer"

Hmmm... not sure how Canadian tire dealers are handling the dollar exchange. I wonder if off shore tires are becoming a less expensive option?

What good tire brands are not manufactured in the US?
