Default (DIY) Side Window Replacement on 87' FC35

Hello,

I own a 1987 FC35 and had my rear passenger side window crack. I need to replace it and I have the replacement window. I have tried 5 different RV glass installers in the Tampa Bay area and they are all afraid to give it a go. So, I figured I would at least try and do it myself and after reading a number of posts on this site and removing the interior window trim piece, I still have a few questions.

#1. I see there is possibly (2) rubber trim pieces that surround the window on the outside of the coach. One is the main wide rubber trim and there seems to be a 2nd "Keeper" piece that sits inside the larger one that it seems to be holding the window in place. I have to pull the "Keeper" piece out and to do so, it seems I have to tear it out and probably destroy it in the process as is seems to be glued in somehow.

#2 If I am correct about thoughts in question #1 and have to replace the keeper trim piece, is there a place I can still purchase this trim piece?

#3 Also, if for some reason I just can't get the window out, does anyone know of a company that would tackle this in the Tampa Bay area? I have had zero luck here.

Thanks for any assistance! We are planning a trip out to Colorado/South Dakota in July and just trying to get the bird ready. Thanks again!

the outside rubber may indeed have a zipper insert,do you have pics?
The zipper will pull right out, spray it down with wd40 or silicone spray first.
You will need a zipper tool to put it back in,i will find you a zipper tool to buy.
Once you get the zipper out you use a plastic glass tool, like a popsicle stick and work it under the glass all the way around, then you have to work the window out, have someone on the inside push it out while you work the plastic tool under the glass, slowly work the window out.

There has to be a window shop in the tampa area that can do that work...

Hi Randy,

I viewed this YouTube video that you asked me to check out and that is pretty much the same system that I have on my 87 FC35 windows. I will order the tool to reinstall the locking or zipper strip, but first will make sure I can get the window out. Thanks so much for your quick reply!
