Default Visible Phone/WIFI

Has anybody heard of or had any experience with Visible phone and WiFi? They use the Verizon network, have no contract, unlimited phone,WiFi,text, no cutting back ,(5mbs), $40/ month tax included. It says one device but you can run it thru a modem and connect several.
Just wondering.

Visible is owned by Verizon - it’s their way of offering competition to the non-carrier pre-paid resellers. Obviously they use the Verizon network. As stated, flat $40/mo including fees & fed taxes. Limitations:
- hotspot data speed limited to 5 mbps*
- only one tethered device at a time (T&Cs unclear if this still applies)
- video restricted to 480p (“DVD quality”)
- music restricted to 500 kbps
- lower speed priority than other Verizon subscribers if tower is congested

*Visible is currently eliminating the 5 mbps restriction and you will be grandfathered as long as you remain a customer. No date on when this offer will expire.

Tom’s compared data speeds on a Visible vs Verizon phone and found minor differences in non-congested areas, but 50% or greater reductions near major events or other crowded areas.

Visible has a list of supported phones they’ll provide a SIM for if you want to BYO. Otherwise you can buy a phone from them. Couldn’t find any info about whether SIM would work if moved to a cell router after sign-up.

Quite a few reviews sites out there if you want more opinions from actual users. Personally think I’ll try it for a couple of months on an old phone. My regular carrier is AT&T so this will help diversify my options.

With 5G service on the horizon all providers are offering stuff to lock you up!

AT@T business offers 100gb monthly service without tethering.

I know enough to get myself in serious trouble! Here is what I know. The best solution for R.V. these days is a cell router like a Mofi or Nighthawk. The services like Mobley are no longer available in that format but “I have heard”. People cheat! For example people buy the AT&T Spark which connects to a ODBIi and provide live data about car’s performances and while the engines running/ignition on it provides cell service/wifi. people buy the device for $80 then activate it in a car, and use that SiM in the router. Sometime you have to activate a new sim with the Sparks IMEI and phone number. But I heard it works once activated for $20 month unlimited no slowdown. Or if you have a business you can get ATT business $90 month service or $40 month tablet. But cellular router is the way to go, just need to find the service/price that works for you. With 5g already here most provides have already started with either licensing agreements like Visible and Spark also my guess is that soon prepaid service prices will drop to reasonable levels.

The advanage of Visible is that no cheating is required. That thread I nentioned dhows how to hook up a router
The R2 phone is not spectacular but having real no limit, no throttling is great. The phone is free. You an suspend the service for 2 months. Do you think thst 5g service eill reach campgrounds in the country?

5G will never be viable for remote data IMHO. It just doesn't have the oomph to get through rain, trees, or buildings even at close range.

I'm watching the Visible thing, it's interesting. I hate the idea of using a phone as the receiver, though. Yuck.
