Default Rust Question

I have a few questions about rust in two specific areas on coaches we've seen in the last year.

In the compilation photo below - the first two shots (left to right) are rust located in the wet bay. The third (last) is rust on top of the radiator.

1. How concerned should I be with the rust as it currently exists in this wet bay?

2. We've seen several S60's with this type of rust on top of the radiator and several that don't have it. What can be done to stop it?

3. Is the condition of the rust in either of these two photos beyond doing a cleanup of the rust and applying some rustoleum or something similar?

Removing rust is not easy. Start with clean bare metal, then epoxy primer. Next method is one of the many rust converting products, then epoxy primer.

POR 15 in the Wet bay. Will seal and stop rust. Also tough as nails.

I have seen several S60 with the same rust. Clean and apply POR 15 or any rust converter, then apply Epoxy Primer which is also excellent protector. Rust comes when the paint has come off.

For the wet bay I would wire brush and POR 15 and apply really heavy. Let this stuff run under and into any cracks. Same for the radiator. Apply with a brush and wear gloves. Use Saran wrap before putting the lid back on the can. Ask me how I know.

Sounds good. I was afraid the wet bay rust might be a concern but it sounds like it's a reasonable DIY resolution. Thanks guys!
