Looks like he built a platform up there. Wonder how he tied it into the frame?
Appears to be a serious setup look at the stairs..

Back when I had my 1979 XV, it had the solid diamond plate roof cover with (cruise airs underneath). I used to go to lots of Chili cook off's around TX, when the bands played we always were on the roof watching the band. One night I went up to the stage and when I came back there was at least 20 people on the roof, most (as I recall) were dancing. Twenty people looks like a lot more than it sounds. Bird never moved and didn't seem to care.

At a recent music festival, after the roof became a popular place to hang out (great view of the stage), I ended up posting a sign on the ladder saying that you had to pass a sobriety test to get access to the roof. Nobody, but the kids, passed the test

Brent - no intent to step on your story, but for the non-Facebook WOGers, here's a synopsis (I have no relationship with the owners - just wanted to share):

Brent's father bought it in 1983 -- he said it's been an ongoing project since then.

They added the deck in 1988. It's raised to clear the A/C's -- put in removable plates to access them for repair/maintenance.

The gas engine (534 Ford as he recalls) became problematic to maintain so in 2003, his uncle, a retired USCG diesel mechanic, replaced it with an 8.3 L Cummins. They did a 2" body lift to accommodate the extra engine height.

He commented that the only impact they've ever seen from all the people on the roof is that the bathroom door sometimes gets a "little tight". He did say you have to be more careful when driving because it's top heavy.

It's garaged except during football season when it goes to all UGA games (and an occasional NASCAR event).

MARKYUMA (Mark and Ginger Lauss) suggested he put a rally or two on his schedule so everyone could get a chance to see this creation.

Here are a couple more photos -- there are more on FB.
