Default The Wanderlodge II

Good morning wanderlodgers.
I had a member ask me about the wanderlodge II's the other day, asking what was different on them.
I have noticed a few things, but i'm sure i'm missing most of them.
What i have noticed was painted bumpers (no chrome) and no goat rails.

What else was different?
I know Rick A had one,Eric had one and that guy from Oregon had one.
Who else has one?

Just like the other birds, it all depends on the money you had in your wallet, if you had it Blue Bird would build it. I have seen them with only 2 AC units, & less gauges.

Wouldn't they all have only 2 ac? Or did they make a PT wanderlodge II also?

Chris, The 35 ft FC have 3 AC units and a 12.5 KW Genny. (some 33 also had 12.5 as well)

Yes...My first Bird was a Wanderlodge II. A friend of mine in the beer business owned her and she was the official Miller Lite Girls club house used at different events and races held in North Texas. I had an old Allegro at the time which would sleep 10 and we went everywhere in it, i thought it was cool... till i saw this Bird, my first. I was invited inside and after seeing the dash i was hooked. The owner said you haven’t seen anything yet and turned on the electroluminescent lights! It was at night and wow... The Allegro was no longer cool and I ended up buying this bird shortly thereafter.
One of our first journeys was to the Rally in the Valley in 2000 (I think) where the Resident Bluebird expert back then was Jeff Miller. As luck would have it my assigned parking space was right across from Bird guru Jeff. As I pulled in Jeff came right over and told me I had a Wanderlodge II and said I couldnt park here with the other real Wanderlodges? I said what? Your kidding, he said no, that I must move and pointed to a small group of Birds parked a looong way off out in a lower field. I said why? Cause you have the II model and he began explaining that i had no goat rails...huh? Whats that?? No electric curtains? Huh? No this and no that... he kept on and on, and I began feeling sick. I never for a second imagined that I had a lower level version of Bird. Then Jeff said and the most important feature your missing are the rocket boosters! Rocket Boosters huh...I gotta have those? About this time Jeff began to smile and he laughed and said just kidding.
Later Jeff explained the W II was Bluebirds attempt at creating a lower expense Bird, but it was done for only 2 years, because almost everyone who ordered one, ended up adding back most of the items which were originally deleted to save money. They were only FC models and mine did have chrome bumpers and everything else, but no electric curtains, no goat rail...and NO rocket boosters! But it also would or could roll over.
My Wanderlodge II did get a new dump valve at that same Rally in the Valley by the friendly, funny guy in the booth selling that kind of stuff. His name was Randy D....And he changed a valve and some cracked fittings for $25 cash in probably less than 5 min., with the added bonus (or non bonus) to the many onlookers of a full moon rising!
