Default We just bought a 1991 SP36 too!

Hi fellow Wanderlodge owners.

We are Kemly and Dan,

We just bought ours from a couple in Deland Fl. She is very clean and hopefully has some good life left in her. 3208 Cat with Z5. Leaking hydro jacks and a couple of rust bubbles. We are in Tampa and want to get her fixed up for the road. Any good body shops around the Tampa Bay Area ? Great to see so much help out here. Kemly and I hope to see you guys out on the road !

Congratulations. We bought ours in March and drove it from Florida to California in what was an eventful trip! Been preparing it for a cross country jaunt ever since. First stop is Hood River rally which Chip provided a link to above.

https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...ad.php?t=32962

We are in Sacramento and planning on hitting the road up toward Lake Shasta, Klamath falls, and may be another stop along the way to Hood River. Then we are going to keep on trucking north to Canada.

If you can make it to Sacramento area mid to late next week, we could caravan to Hood River together.

Joe and Daniel,

Welcome to the SP Club!

Those of us who have owned SP’s think our model is “special”...

And, WE can get into those “tight spots” in the state parks!

Every time I get tempted to get one of those 40 foot plus wide bodies,
I remind myself how many times I only had about 1 inch of clearance
on the mirrors when I was backing into a camp site!

Please come by- I'd like to meet you. Or if we can meet up somewhere. I'm getting my rig weighed on Friday morning, then heading back to LA.
Why would you weigh your rig? Is it necessary or just out of curiosity?

Knowing your weight lets you adjust your tire pressure to ensure that you are within the safe operating limits of your tires, and two so that you know if you need to move your rock collection from the left side bay to the right side bay.

Kemly and Dan,
Don’t worry, your SP still “has some good life left in her”!
My 91 has 380K miles on the chassis/body (new engine and gennie), and,
it is in excellent condition... It does not “rattle” going down the road,
all the cabinetry still looks great, and 99% of the “systems” work as designed...
Now, I will admit that a lot of money went into replacing “a few” parts along the way,
BUT, it was definitely worth investing in a GREAT chassis/body.
You should feel confident that you made a good choice...

We love our SP! You need to come to "Q " in January 2020 and enroll in Wanderlodge Universery. It is the best thing we did after buying a Bird!

Thank you, good to know! And where do you find, or how would you know what is the right weight and/or left and right balance?

Default Four corners (weight)

Weight distribution is primarily about air pressure in your tires. But it is possible to overload with weight on a tire or axle, so that is the primary primary consideration--know your axle load limits, know your tire load limits.

Next time you see a CAT Scale at a truck stop, tell the desk you want FRONT and REAR axle weights. You might need a working CB. They'll guide you onto scale, weighing one axle at a time. Then set your front/rear tire cold pressure according to tire mfg's pressure @ weight recommendations.

Some shops have a portable scale so they can take the coach weight at each tire. Henderson's Lineup in southern Oregon has one, they do a lot of suspension tuning stuff.
