They do have slides which I would prefer they didnt have but overall they do tick a lot of the boxes. We currently have a Sprinter based class B and looking for something larger with more tank capacity than we currently have. Looking at a class A is interesting but I don't like the safety aspect. A Bluebird would be great but maybe too old... not sure yet. As part of the search the Super C's do seem like a class B on steroids. Lots of the benefits we have with a Sprinter but a lot more carrying capacity.
I agree Kevin.

Peggy and I drove to Ft. Myers this afternoon to take a second look at a Renegade Verona LE 40LTS.

It hits all our buttons. I have not seen anything but this one that comes close to the quality of our M380. Problem is that it is $$$$$.

What to do????

To Woody & Ron - Get that M380 you’ve always wanted (or had)

Willing to bet I can turn inside, out accelerate and stop quicker than that 40’ Verona at < 1/3 the cost

I am the former owner of a very nice 1996 40’ BMC. I sold it to Paul Cambron in Arkansas and consider him a friend and still try my best to help in any way I can. I still miss some aspects of owning that machine. The quality of construction is superior to my current rig. Turning radius is better, No slides to worry about leaking or getting stuck in or out. The drive quality is also nicer. By this I mean, ride harshness, sound level, maneuverability, etc.
And I also like the generator placement, fuel capacity and of course the best support in the form of this forum.

But you must be wondering why I sold it and bought a Super C.

I had a very nice 2008 Haulmark Super C practically fall into my lap. I found it less than 5 miles from my house and bought it from the owner in a very cordial business deal. It had very low miles, a pre-emissions 515 hp S-60 and a 12 speed Ultrashift transmission. It was also priced at what I thought was a good deal. It needed tires and a few minor things but don’t all RVs always need care and feeding.

I didn’t want to be in the 2-RV club and was in active negotiations with Paul while I was negotiating for the Super C

Some of the advantages that I find desirable are ease of maintenance on the engine and related components, Towing capacity (30K), 4 slides that greatly increase the square footage when extended and a few others.

But as my signature reflects, I do consider it a Sticks and Staples RV. It’s a very nice machine but it’s not a Bluebird.

One aspect of safety that I think overrides the rollover safety issue is the frontal crash crumple zone aspect. In my mind, I consider a frontal crash to be more likely than a rollover and I like the idea of frame rails, axle, wheels, engine all out in front of the passenger seating area.

I really wanted a custom built Super C. A good friend had a Kenworth garage-hauler built by Jason in Cape Girardeau MO and it is great. Bedroom located above the garage and a host of other cool stuff. Check out his business, Hawk Engineering. He is an extremely capable designer/ builder and will build exactly what you want. Unfortunately that detail and quality comes at a price that I wasn’t willing to pay. He isn’t overpriced for the product he builds but I just don’t have that kind of money to spend on an RV.

I just got home yesterday from a weekend dirt bike riding trip in East Texas. We comfortably slept 4 grown men without being crowded The above cab area was not utilized but that could have slept one more if needed. And we had room for one more on the kitchen floor if necessary. That’s another reason I like the slide outs.

Hope this is helpful to anyone interested. Sorry about the sideways picture.

Max.
