Default The Kid Next Door

I was having trouble with my computer so I called Richard, the 11 year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over.

Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.
As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?'
He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.'

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, 'An, ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again.'

Richard grinned. 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?'
'No,' I replied.
'Write it down,' he said, 'and I think you'll figure it out.'

So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T

Ooo, that's baaaad.

My father-in-law works in computer tech support, and refers to any user-error problem as a "P.I.C.N.I.C."

PICNIC stands for Problem In Chair, Not In Computer.

LOL. We always used to say: "The problem's between the chair and the keyboard".

In pilots talk that equates to Low Impedance Between the Headsets.

Not the sharpest knife in the drawer?

The fail code we used on work orders was DAO - It stood for Dumb A$$ Operator.

Dick,

When I was a C-124 mechanic during my time in the USAF we refereed to the same thing as "A short between the headset" not as technical as a pilots description but meaning the same thing. The dock chiefs never would accept that as a answer to a discrepancy so we alway had to rewrite the repair or reason for not repairing on the work order
