Default Transmission Shift Neutral Light stays on

I just had roadside service to replace my starter. That went well enough but now the Shifter is not shutting off when the key is off. The Neutral indicator stays on after engine shut down and occasionally beeps four times. The key is off. When we drove it was operating normally, no weird symptoms.

I'm just worried that when the tech was trying to jump the starter solenoid that the arcing might have introduced a problem to the transmission ECU. Is there a way to do a reset on the transmission or is this one of those drive it for the ECU to figure things out again solutions?

I don't see any error codes, and the Check Transmission light is off.

There's a normally open 3 psi engine oil “pressure switch” (screwed into an engine oil manifold under the coach in the vicinity of the starter) which “closes” when engine oil pressure is detected. If that pressure switch fails in the "closed" or "partly closed" position it can power the Allison ECU without the key being in the ignition. Maybe they pinched the wire or damaged the sensor.

Thumbs up John W is still winning. :)

Another, YUP for John W.
Went under and checked the sender and one of the wires was held on by a single corroded strand. It broke off when I looked at it hard. There are three terminals on the sender and the one with no wires can be pulled half way out of the sender (pointing at it in photo 2). Problems..

I tried to read the part number off but it is partially wiped out. I looked for this sender in the diagrams that I have but didn't see it.

Does anyone have a part number or replacement number for the sender?

It has been a while.. 3 weeks since I changed out the sender..
But I finally got around to a long test drive.

On the way back I stopped to top off the tank and noticed the Check Trans light flickering, and I could hear the Relay #21 clicking in the lower dash. If I increase engine speed a little the Relay and the Check Trans light stop flickering.

Looking at the schematics, the oil pressure switch wire 305 is connected to a terminal strip with ECU Diodes. Since just pushing the oil pressure up a tiny bit makes it stop flickering I'm thinking I must have an oil pressure switch that is closing a little at idle.

I'm wondering if anyone has a better part number for the oil pressure sender. The one in my previous post was all that I could find from the original part number.

A technicality but, if the new pressure switch is what's causing the "Check Trans" light to flicker, I would say it's because the new switch is "opening" a little at idle rather than because it's "closing" a little.

The pressure switch should be closed at idle and stay closed at idle.

Thanks John!
Thanks Al!

That sender on eBay looks just like the original sender. I've ordered one and will try swapping it out.
