Default Stuck in a Rut

When I park my bus in it's stall, the drive wheels compress the limestone to form a slight depression under the tires. The depression makes moving the coach feel like the wheels are chocked and I have to depress the accelerator for 2 to 3 minutes before the engine builds up enough RPMs to get the bus rolling. Am I doing this correct or causing harm to the trans?

Thanks,
Scotty

hi scotty
i too parked in gravel...you may consider making some pads to park on thats what i did when i used crushed limestone. i made mine with treated plywood....just a thought.. i use milling(ground up black top) on drive now gets packed hard over time
not sure about trans issue.

That is exactly what I have been doing too for almost 15 years now for the two different coaches that I have parked at the homebase.

Just keep filling that depression. Sooner or later it will compact and you will have a solid place to park.

Try it with not inflating the tag axel. You may get better grip. Once out then inflate the tag. Like Rick said, keep filling the hole you make. Just scrape it from the middle back to the depression. No need to buy more.

Accelerating the engine in a Drive gear and not moving for 2 or 3 minutes in not good for the tranny
or spinning the tires is not good for the rear end, tires & axle.
Depending on moisture or time sitting, possibly the park brake shoes are sticking

I don't understand how you could depress the accelerator for 2 or 3 mins not spin wheels or move the bus? Soon as I touch the "gas" one of the two happens. That power has to go some place. Seems a problem to me.

Thanks Guys, John the depression made by the drive and tag tires is about 3-4 inches deep, so each tire is sitting in a bowl, very much like having the wheels chocked. Should I be able drive out of that with little effort?

Once you release the parking brake, try backing up a little to unstick the brake shoes, before putting it in drive.

My experience while limited is in a situation as described the wheels would spin or the bus would move.
