We have stayed in 1900 and 300, we liked them both, 300 was nice and close to the marina. But you can catch a buss at many places, so, there isn't really a bad spot, just more preferred...

Christmas time is my favorite. Many sites are decorated and it isn't as hot!

Don't forget to reserve a golf cart if you're not bringing one. Reservations are needed if you want to guarantee you get one. And, its nice to have. You'll get plenty of walking regardless.

Question for you guys..
I'm heading down on I-75 but see that my options are FL Turnpike to US27, or FL Turnpike to Western Beltway, or FL Turnpike to Wintergarden Vineland Road. Just wondering which you guys recommend?

Right now I'm leaning toward just following US27.

take 27 down to Ocala and then south on 75 to the turnpike.
Or take 27 to Chiefland and then 19 to Crystal River and then 44 to wildwood.
Wildwood is where the turnpike merges with 75.
If you so south of Crystal river on any highway the traffic is bad.
75 or the turnpike south of Wildwood is the road to take.

The stretch between Gainesville and Ocala is named the Bermuda triangle.
Nothing good happens out there.
Get you wheels polished in Wildwood.

What I do from the north is take the turnpike to 429 to Western Way.

Western Way will drop you right onto Buena Vista Drive, which is Disney property. Follow signs for the Magic Kingdom, then stay to the right before you get to the parking toll booth. There's now a direct ramp for Fort Wilderness that bypasses the parking booth.

Cool thanks!

We're taking our granddaughter down for a stay. So that means I either will not have a copilot or I will have two copilots. If I know the way that solves that before it happens.

Bruce,go through Tallahassee about 20 miles and turn on the road to Capps and Monticello.
Go right/south 6 miles to Capps, turn left on 27 and go to Chiefland Fl.
In Chiefland you take the 27 to Bronson and on to Williston and then Ocala to I 75.
Or,in chiefland you stay on 19 and go to Crystal River, then go east on 44 to Wildwood.
The roads are very good, not much traffic and theres a rest area before you get to Perry.
In cheifland theres a huge walmart with RV parking.

Chris, I think we passed each other on I-75 just North of the Turnpike. I was the Blue/Green going North. Have a blast. We did!

Oh one other thing for future people visiting this thread. Disney has changed the campground registration to include a "Meadow" area now. That puts you on one of the loops near the Meadow Trading Post and Recreational Area (Chip & Dale Campfire/Movies, one of the pools, basketball/shuffle/pickleball courts, etc) for those going with kids. It could save you the $65/day golf cart rental since everything is there and for the parts down by the marina you can just catch the bus that stops right in front of the Meadow Trading Post.
