I stole it from you at WOG ... just been waiting to see how long it’d be before you noticed it was missing.

The new reservoir came yesterday, it's BIG like it should be. The new fan showed up today, and it looks good, too. All I need now is to figure out the pump end of things and get it all installed and make up some hoses! I should be able to get the old stuff out tomorrow and test fit the fan and motor to make sure.

I might just wait until I have time to remove the old one and see how much room there is under there for lines. I understand this is hard to do from the bedroom hatch, but that's how it will have to get done.

A little feller like you should have no problem working through that hatch...

I've replaced the alternator, fixed a number of other things through there. I'll figure it out. I'm not planning on taking the radiator out, but it doesn't really seem that bad to do if I have to.

I got into this a little bit this weekend, but I hit a small snag - even though the taper is the same, the key on he new fan motor is larger than the old one, so I have to figure out what to do here. I could get a hub from an LXI, it should be the same pilot/bolt pattern as the brand new fan I just bought. Argh.

Make an offset key, leave the key out or broach the keyway bigger in the hub.
3 choices!

I'll just mill a key down to match. It probably doesn't really need the key at all, but I would feel better if it's in there. I don't have stuff to broach it larger. I did search around on the internet for a new hub of any kind and struck out, there's nothing out there or I'm using the wrong search terms!

OK so some movement on this project. I got most of the old stuff out, I need to get the old hydraulic pump out tonight. I ended up ordering a brand new 45207-186 pump, which is what the newer 6v and 8v birds both seem to have. It flows a lot more than the old 45207-123 pump. I don't think this is an 8v vs 6v thing as the newer 6v birds seem to have it. I think all the WB 8v coaches used this pump to the end of their run. I don't really care, it flows more and is only a little bit longer. This wouldn't be a 1:1 swap, however, because the new pump has a dedicated outlet port for the fan motor where as the 123 pump only sends return flow to the fan motor on the same circuit as the steering. You would just have to make a couple of new hoses.

The PWM controller is done and waiting to go in. I just used one of the extra boards I made for my level sensors, just reconfigured a bit. It looks OEM. It reports the PWM fan % and temperature for both coolant and hydraulic reservoir. I might also put a hydraulic pressure sensor on the system somewhere, but for now I need to get moving on this. I am trying to leave town next week for a 10 hour round trip, so we'll see.
