Default 78 BB part?

What is this part? How does it work?
John this was the only way I could get the picture on, post new thread.
Can you add it to my old thread? or just leave it.

Mark
Where does this live on your Bird? Also what is it connected to? I have a 79' and will check to see if I have one .

Mark, that is your sending unit for the Tach. It is located on the front of the engine behind your fan mount. Are you having issues with your Tach?

I've attached pictures.. I changed out my 78 sending unit with an 82 sending unit to try and resolve an issue...

I was thinking it was the tack drive or a sensor for the fuel injector. I have a new tack with crank sensor. So I don't need this tack drive, It probably does not work and the new tack was installed. I'm going to leave it alone.
I cleaned the starter solenoid and I am glad the front end was off! what a job it turned out to be! Glad to be out from under!
