Wow, awesome work. Thanks for all the pics. Shame, this is winter work. I rebuilt a few truck engines when I was younger. I have some war wounds today and I be hard pressed to do such hard work. I sure try though.

Looks like a big job and very good work on your part!
Did you do the main bearings and rings too? How many hours and miles on the engine/coach?

Hi Jeff. I didn’t do rings and bearings. The bus had about 119,000 miles on it when it went. About 3500ish hours (without looking at gauge).

Two cylinders back of the block @ the transmission flange like to run hot, it's normal to open up cylinder wall clearance a couple thousandths to reduce piston/wall friction in those holes. I hope you paid attention to the Cat head bolt torque protocol.
Happiness is a clean engine room.

Absolutely followed the Cat torque specs and procedure. Bought all new head bolts for the job too. Not something I want to have trouble with again.
