Default New Member - Rear Control Center

Hello, I am a new member. We purchased our 1987 PT40 a few weeks ago. I've been checking it out and tinkering since we brought it home. The immediate previous owners had it less than three years and logged only about 500 miles. They purchased it from the son of a deceased previous owner so other than having all the documentation in the box, they did not get much other information. It is in very good shape and I am happy with it so far.

Somewhere along the line, the entire overhead rear control center was removed: cabinet and all (I'm not sure if those are all the correct terms). Unless one is familiar with Wanderlodges, you do not notice that it is gone. At the ends of the valances near the rear wall there is about 8 inches of uncovered area that exposes wiring running along the wall. All of the wiring that went to the controls is cut, terminated individually, wire tied, and tucked away neatly.

My question is why do you suppose someone did that? Is that an area of that historically had problems? I am considering building a cabinet to replace it. It would include at least reading lights. Is there any controls worth reconnecting? Or is that all stuff that I would not miss anyway? I can send some pictures later this evening if that would help.

I apologize for the lengthy message and if this was posted in the wrong place.

Thanks.

First of all Dan welcome to the group and congrats on your new purchase. I don't know anything about an 87 and I'm sure somebody will come along that will know. However, it is always a good idea to post pics along with questions such as yours. This will remove a lot of questions about what you are talking about and most likely get a better answer. Good luck with your new Bird.

It could be my ignorance if there is actually nothing missing. It sure appears something is. Was the rear control panel an option. I've definitely found a large group of cut wires in the rear copilot side of the room that I assume would have gone to those controls.

It appears the upper section has been moved back, the upper section should be flush with the valances. We have an 86, the control center us housed underneath the ledge that extends beyond the mirrors. We will be glad to take some pictures this weekend and forward. Attached are the couple of pics we have available currently.
