Count me in to help/learn too. Planning to change our fabric in the future.

You're right, it wasn't nearly as hard as I thought it would be. While visiting Wayne and Kathy, they kindly offered to help us change the awning. Took us about 4 hours. Hope it last longer than the last one.

We have called several that are listed on their web site, but they don't seem to know anything about awnings. Anyone have experience with a Zip Dee dealer North or West of Lexington KY?

Almost every rally an awning or two is repaired.
A few of us have retired from the ladder crew,
but there is always some younger help available, supervisors & onlookers.
If anyone needs the special ZipDee vise gripes, I may able to find it in my tool box. The tool is not necessary, but I keep it secure because Rick Shawver alias "Visegripes", has had a strong desire to get his hand on this highly desirable useless tool.

I have two Singer sewing machines here if we need reinforcements - Marti might be able to help - I might sew my fingers together. But I'll watch!

Default zip dee lock

I read almost all 30 pages and missed this if it was mentioned. Has anyone ever changed the clamp wheel and bolt that locks the awning in place? The bolt is attached to the main bracket with what appears to be just a drive pin. The parts diagram show a replacement kit that includes the drive pin, bolt, and clamp wheel. I have one that the bolt got bent and stripped out so the clamp wheel does not turn. It is usable but not locked down as tight as it should be.
