Mine stopped flying off when I installed new lug nuts. They tend to get rounded off after 30 years of impact wrenches. I have not lost one in 5 years/over 55K miles- and I do not use any adhesives or tape.

I use the tool shown above to remove. I use the cheap plastic covers. I put a dab of clear silicone on all the inside flats when installing. Never lost one since I started doing that. The Bus came with Alcoa brand nut covers. They were larger diameter outside and had a a little snap spring on the inside. The issue was they interfered with the rim of the hub cover so they would not seat all the way down on the nut. I lost a few of them. Went to the plastic and silicone. 100% satisfied. Even if you crack them a little getting them off they are still usable.

E600 you can get it at Walmart ,the best rubber cement in the work. I would glue the space shuttle together with it. And you will be able to remove and reglue as needed

I haven't replaced the lug nuts, but I did laboriously scuff the flats of every lug nut with fine sandpaper. When we bought the bus it had the Alcoa covers and they were old and the spring clips rusty and 4 or 5 were missing. Replaced all 60 with new Alcoa covers(very expensive)and haven't lost one in 10 years and over 100,000 miles.

I lose a couple every time I go through Orlando
on interstate 4 construction is horrendous.

I mark the studs with a magic marker,
so that I know which lug nuts I need to replace.

Speaking of lug nut covers and lug nuts...
Where are you all buying yours? I have a heck of a time finding the correct lug nut covers and it appears that I-10 has claimed 2 more this trip.
