Default LED Taillight Upgrade for LX/LXI's

I can't believe I am the first one asking about this, and I don't know if my search terms are off or what. I know that Stephen at Dupree Products only has the incandescent assemblies for my coach (2003 LX40) - Has anyone out there had any luck with an aftermarket or custom LED taillight upgrade? I know a lot of the older rigs have been spiffed up by them, and there are some affordable kits for most late 90’s early 2000's Prevost's. I am surprised I am having such a hard time finding them for my LX40.

Thanks,

Jon

My first thought would be to figure out what the tail lights are off of. (Blue Bird did not make tail lights.) If it is a popular vehicle they will be available in the aftermarket.

One note. I do not recommend simply swapping out the bulbs for LED bulbs. They are just not bright enough as the design of the bulbs doesn't make good use of the reflectors in the OEM housing.

Any update or info from anyone? I just bought a 2000 LXi and found the taillights are aged, some cracked and could be replaced or upgraded if need be

The lenses on there now do say Hella brand

The Hella 8805 series are the "Brilliant ones. They have a smooth lens with the facets molded into the reflector instead of the outer lens. Most of the newer cars and trucks use that design. Hella does make a LED version of the "Brilliant series but I think there 24 volts. I believe the Van Hool buses use them. The 8805 series are cheaper than the old style. The 8805's have there screw holes in the back. I haven't tried installing them yet.

I just changed all 8 tail lights with lights from ABS. They are for the VanHool coaches, not LED but as bright as any LED you will see, $45/ per light. I will post the part numbers and info or send me an e-mail and I will send pictures and info. Missed Finns class on posting pictures.

No kidding! Wow I'm going to look into that VanHool deal. I have a friend that owns a bus company and all he owns are Van Hool

In the mean time I found some of the 8805 brilliant series on Amazon for $11 each so I ordered 2 just to check them out! Cheap enough I think!
