Default PT with Side Bath Bedroom Privacy Door Wanted

During the Pine Mountain Rally in October 2018 I toured a PT38 owned by two gentlemen from Monroe, Georgia called "The Copper Jungle". Their bus had what appeared to be a factory installed privacy door in the hall way between the side bath and the bedroom. The door matched the interior wood perfectly and was mounted to the hallway wall on the bath side with piano hinge extending the entire length of the door. The door latched to the wall and when desired could be opened and locked into place providing privacy to the rear bedroom from the rest of the coach.

We have a PT 40 with a side bath. We do not have the privacy door option, but would certainly like one. We have four teenage children and would appreciate being able to disengage from then after a long day on the road.

If anyone has a used one that they have removed from a Wanderlodge I would be interested in buying it. I undertand that one can me made relatively easily. However, I am a sucker for original and would prefer to go that route before creating my own.

Kevin,

Copper Jungle belongs to us; we will be glad to take some pictures and post if you desire to have some for reference. Due to our work schedule, it will be this weekend before we will have an opportunity to capture images.

Hello Bill and Tim,

Thank you very much for the reply, not certain which of you responded, but I appreciate your offer and would really like a lot of pictures of your privacy door system. With any luck I can find one from a salvage coach or one that was removed from a coach by an owner and is sitting in their garage somewhere. Of course, the bigger issue is getting a match on the color and pattern of the veneer. Nevertheless, thank you again for your willingness to take some photos and share them with me when you have the time. My email address is coonskevin@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Those doors must have been pretty common options. We have one on our '85 PT36. Handy too!

I'd love to see the door. On my old PT the bathroom door makes a pretty good privacy door for the hallway if you leave it open, but the dogs like to close it. Ours has a curtain right at the bedroom end of the hall that snaps to both sides of the hall cabinets, too.

Andy, my bathroom door has a sliding catch at the very top. Open the door to close off the hall, and slid out the catch which mates to a small hole in the hall wall. The door being discussed then opens and latches across the bedroom. That leaves you a decent size bath to use. I'm not where I can take a pic but maybe someone else is.

Kevin,

Here are a couple of pictures of the door you are referring to. This is on my ‘86 PT38.

Chris,

Thank you very much for the pictures of your factory installed privacy door.

I appreciate the close up of the latching mechanism.

To the open. Are you aware that the closet door opens up and becomes the door to the bedroom? Thi was a common feature on many birds. As another poster mentioned there is sliding bolt that will keep it closed.

Thank you, I will check it out. However, I believe my closet door if left open will collide with the bath room door door and the light from the closet comes on and has to be disabled to turn it off. But, I will check to be sure.
