Our Prius identifies as a 'Bird, but the Vespa keeps telling her she's crazy.

Yeah I don’t watch the news much anymore, but I highly doubt this is correct. You do have restrictions on parking, but banned, naw. The Chicago Bears fans love to tailgate and would shoot that law down.
I have driven my Bird in the Loop, downtown Chicago, had it parked outside a high rise apartment building. I don’t think you can take it down Lake Shore Drive and maybe some other streets, and you should watch your clearance under the viaducts.
Someone posted the place you can park right along the lake front I think I posted that in another thread. There’s a campground at a Cook county forest preserve called Bullfrog lake, very nice forest preserve and great mountain bike trails.
But your talking about West Chicago which is a very distant suburb of Chicago. No issues there as others have already said. If your looking for a campground I could probably list a few, you can look at the Casinos also if you want to be close to West Chicago. You should check out the Illinois Railway Museum in Union IL, if you like trains.

Plastic straws are banned in Chicago - but rest assured WEST Chicago is not "near" Chicago, separated entity. Elgin got a RV parking ban I believe.
Watch underpass heights in Chicago.

ok thats what I thought. Did find the ordinance and it does say no parking on commercial or residenitial streets in the city. Lookin at a Metra station nearby or DuPage Airport. ALso UP Training Center where the Big Boy will be on display has a fairly large parking lot. Right behind the West Chicago PD station.

I’ve parked our FC ON the Navy Pier in Chicago for free. It was great! One of our best rv stories.

Its only a great story if you tell it. How'd you pull this off and when, it does sound like a great story.

I have parked two different RVs at the Field Museum and the Shedd Aquarium. I honestly can't recall exactly where we parked but it may have been at the parking lot for Soldier's Field. But anyway, it wasn't an issue parking there either time.
