Default Pacs 1500

Hi folks,
Its time to toss the Pacs, and move on.
Anyone know how to remove the Pacs from the teeny-tiny cubby its in on our 88WB?
Advice and tips appreciated.

Thanx in advance.

The partition on the left side of the inverter can be twisted away after it is unbolted from the bottom. It's still not easy, it's pretty heavy.

I had to loosen the aluminum angle on the top of the door also to get it off of the shelf of my PT. You may have more room though being a WB. Make sure you disconnect the batteries before removing cables.

Default PAC 1500

Hi,
Nice your taking the unit out. Whenever I really needed it, like 1:00a, it would fail. Would just fail at times for no reason. I threw it into a Benson AZ dumpster with a big smile on my face.

Chris My Pac 1500 quit coming home from FL last spring & wanting to put in a new one. What did you put in after you took out the Pac & did you have to change any wiring? I want to put in a 2000 w Magnum if it wouldn't require a lot work or if it did would just stay with a 1500 Magnum with a built in charger Thanks Don from north of you in Butler

Hi Don,

I replaced the PACS with a Xantrex Freedom 458 2000 watt with multi level charger. I used the existing battery cables and output wiring. I bypassed the inverter transfer switch under the sink (in a 86 PT) to eliminate possibility of feedback to the inverter. Since my PACS did not have a charger, there was no AC input. That had to be run to the compartment where it is located.

It’s nice to know there is another bird nearby.

Chris

Default Inverter

Thanks Chris for getting back to me so soon. My pacs has a 1/0 wire going to the batteries neg & positive. I don't ever remember seeing a inverter transfer switch under my sink. There might be a box marked inverter on it. I'll take a look when I get a chance. I might have to pick your brain when I go to put one in. Thanks Don
