Thanks again everyone. It has been a good day. Tim you said a mouthful on the great year for mowing grass. I should have been out there today but called it off, just because I could Normal years I don't mow more than once a month in July and August. I have mowed at least once a week so far and a couple of times about every 5 days. It's been a good year for mosquitos too Supposed to get more rain starting tonight, through tomorrow and into Friday. There is just no end to it, it seems.

Thanks John I did. It turned out better than expected

I got online to do some banking and saw my direct deposit of my pension check and it was up $250 this month!! Since I am on the "old" pre 1987 Pension Plan my pension increases with an increase of a 3rd year Troopers pay. The department has lost a lot of guys due to low pay and the state legislature saw the need to increase a young Trooper's pay to get more guys working on the road. The last class only had 37 recruits in it, when they usually have around 60. They can't get anybody to go out and risk their lives for $39,000? Illinois starts their guys out a $60,000 and Michigan and Ohio are at around $45,000. We have always been on the low end of the spectrum of surrounding states. We pay to train them and they soon find out what other states pay and they just leave and can transfer over without going to their recruit school and just get minimal updating on that state's specific laws. Indiana taxpayers have been paying to train other states cops for years. Maybe it will slow it down a little with this increase. I've been retired for 15 years so you can't imagine what I made when I was working. It was a joke, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I took a $10,000 pay cut from my previous job in 1973 to start as a Trooper for $10,200. Call me crazy!!!

So it turned out to be a great day in many ways. Thanks.

You my friend need to start writing a book. Glad you got a couple extra bucks but with your writing talent and "experiences"you could retire your retirement. I think every one of your WOG friends agrees with me.

John, several people have encouraged me to do that, but I obviously haven't. I don't know that I ever will, but if I do, you and WOG will be the first to know. I feel comfortable in the short story format that I have written, here on WOG, but I need to see if I can feel just as comfortable in something longer, that would be suitable for a book. Michele was the one that got me started with the Story Time thread and has encouraged me to go further, maybe she will succeed yet. I am keeping an open mind about it. Thanks for the kind words. The best asset I have are the friends I have made here on WOG. You are all the best
