Default Suspension dump

My suspension dump is not working. The tag dump works. When using the HWH jacks I need to dump the suspension. If not the step is way to far off the ground. I opened up the hinged panel above the grill and spotted the Clippard valves. There is one all by itself that I think is for the front fresh air inlets. It has 2 air lines coming out. The 3 others are on a manifold. I tried to access the dump switch on the dash from the lower section. Of course that would have been too easy. I opened up the large area of the dash and I can see the back of the switch. The black wire is marked "25". The wires to the Clippard valves have too much grime on them to read the wire tags. Tomorrow I will trace the wire from the switch to the Clippard valve after testing the switch. Any suggestions for a next step if I don't find the problem. I assume I can apply 12 volts to the Clippard valve to see if it is faulty. Where does the air from the Clippard valve go? I must have been lucky as my FC never had those kind of problems!

Check to see if you have power to the clippards, use a test light or a meter.
If you have power, then the clippard valve may be stuck,MMO may fix that.

You have to have air pressure to dump, air up then try to dump again, just a thought.

Thanks for the replies. I will test everything later this morning. Peter: I had 90 lbs. of air.

Don't forget that the gauges only show the brake tank pressure, the wet tank pressure (what works the suspension, etc) can drop to zero without any indication when the coach is not running.

Thanks for all the help. Problem solved. Actually the only problem was me. I opened up the left side front panel and just about died looking at all that wiring. Everything looked alright. No disconnected wires. No loose wiring. The switch was fine. After testing for voltage and ground I was still perplexed. Finally I tried dumping both the tag and the suspension at the same time. VOILA! It works. Built up the air and tried again. All is good. Now I have to reassemble the dash! (My FC did not have a tag!)

Yup, forgot to mention you can't dump the main suspension if the tag is still up. Prevents you from putting the entire coach rear weight on the tag alone.

About 10 years ago I was busy on this forum answering questions. I guess things have changed as I am now doing the asking.
