Sounds like a 'Flux Capacitor' to me. If you go over 88 MPH you will be transported into the future

So here is the update. Lynn got the old generator/engine out of the bus, I had it inspected (air bags installed and a few other little things), and brought the bas back to Lynn tonight. New generator arrived this afternoon, so he starts the install Monday morning. Hopefully all goes well and I'll have it back later next week, just in time to pack up for our big summer trip.

Markus I have been reading about your problems with the generator and waited to see what you would chose, a new generator with engine or a brushless generator replacement head. Good choice for with the new brushless generator head coupled to either the Perkins of Yanmar you are getting the best combination of a large cast iron commercial diesel that is available even today.

This is a choice that in my opinion you get what you pay for? These engines are heavy cast iron with replaceable cylinder liners and heavy duty piston rods and bearings. There is no substitute in diesel engines for heavy cast iron to hold the engine together over the long run.

If my generator ever fails and I am still strong enough to pull the Perkins out of the bay then it will get a shiny new Marathon generator.

How about posting the part number of the marathon unit you bought Markus?

Good job!

I don't think the Yanmar has cylinder liners

Tom, my marathon manual and bill lists nothing except 20kw. I'll open the slide later today and try to read the numbers off the unit, after everyone is awake!

Most of the brushless units that I've seen are "advertised" as 20kW 3-phase power. When you go to single phase, it gets derated down to 12.5.

Hey Markus,

I'm curious, how did this all work out? Any issues? Also any pricing you can share?

Larry - sorry, thought I had posted all of that but must be in a different thread, or maybe just in my head! Gennie is running great, run it all the time. The only issue I had post installation was a coolant leak, turned out the top radiator hose was a little loose, no surprise as its a bit of a bear to get to. It was about 4K total, parts and installation, plus a cleaning/fixing of the radiator which was leaking when he put it all back together.
