Ed,

I watched Craigs List (Ebay too) and when a nice used Onan diesel came along I snatched it up. It was a local cash and carry deal. You would be surprised at the number that come available from wrecks etc. It was a great move for us, quiet, smooth and even more fuel efficient

It should be a very straight up change out.

I replaced mine with an air cooled 12.5 Onan from a wrecked fire engine. It had 600 hours on it & I got it cheap. I've been happy so far. Does a good job, not any louder than the old Perkins, no coolant to fool with, and it handles the load just fine. I had to do some engineering to exhaust the hot (cooling) air from the compartment and it is REAL tight because I mis-figured the engine mount height.

Measure three times & fabricate ONCE!

TOM
