I found the tran model # HTB-748. This was hand written on the front of an "Allison Automatic Transmissions -- Mechanics Tips MT 600 Series". But best lead I have found so far.

Also found 314 code is "Inj. Response Time Long" Cylinder 4 .

I believe my 89 has a htb741, but I don't know where to verify that off the top of my head.

Not much help, but I'll do some digging unless others come up with answers for you.

I entered my serial number on the Allison website and it came back as HTB748.
Will go to Stewart Stevenson tomorrow for part location diagram and part number.

I have read through some of these thread .

I think the model number, part number and serial number should be on a small data plate on the driver’s side of the transmission just above the transmission oil pan, riveted to the aluminum body of the transmission. Mine is almost straight up from where the dipstick tube goes into the oil pan.

I think the speed sensor should be on the passenger side of the transmission 2 or 3 inches from the output shaft. Not sure which one yours uses but it may be a 23013334 like mine uses.
