Default Ship's Computer

One of the projects I am going to do for my coach is to make a 'ships computer' which ties in many of the monitoring functions of other systems on the coach and provides a concise readout on LCD monitors.

I'd tap into the water level monitors, digitell inputs, dash gauges and of course newly installed fire and smoke detection devices in the engine area.

Unknowns right now would be how to have multiple touch displays on the same system.

I can see replacing the rear view display above the driver with a tilt-down panel, having a swing-out panel for the copilot and a rear panel.

more to come as I daydream about it.

This looks like it could be fun. Have many folks attempted to replace the existing with a more modern platform such as Raspberry PI http://www.raspberrypi.org/

A key do doing this is to know what the I/O pin outs and protocols are.

Cool stuff!

Techlink system has been used for years now in Marathon Coaches.

Crestron is another.

Tishner Conversions are among the nicest out there. I've seen the schematics and manuals there written in German.

Country Coach and other Prevost converters used something else in the last years of their production. All controlled by a wireless remote. Some of these systems are orphaned. Good luck finding support for this stuff when it goes down!
