Unhappy M380 Right Rear Jack Stuck down

Currently have Right Rear Big Foot Jack stuck down, will not emergency retract

Have tried resetting panel etc. Would a stuck limit switch cause this?

Usually pump motor failure. Having been through that, the answer in the short run is to disconnect the line from the pump and direct it to a bottle, then use a car jack to push the jack up. If your suspension was dumped you should be able to raise the suspension and get under the jack, at least with a crowbar.

If you do end up needing a motor, info is here: https://www.wanderlodgeownersgroup.c...t=10734&page=3

When mine quit I took the motor apart and repaired it, but I bought a spare pump for the next time, and Chip has it now.

Unhappy M380 Jack Failure

Don

Just to follow up. The pump motor is running when I command emergency retract, but the jack is not moving. are you saying the mechanical pump has failed like a shaft shear or something. I assume you take the down line loose to raise the cylinder.

You can tell the motor is running? Since the rear pumps are side-by-side it would be difficult unless you've opened the box.

In any case, the post I pointed you to I think will have pump replacement info.

The line that has to be open is the "up" line, so that fluid can flow out when you push the jack up.

Unhappy M380 Jack stuck half way down

Don

Yep took the lids off and pump is running but jack is not moving.

Makes my head hurt but I guess motor is running but pump is not pumping. I have tried manual mode to move it up or down and it doesn't move. If it wouldn't make such a mess I would take a line off at the pump and see if fluid is pumping. I guess the pump could be cavitated.

Anyway when I get ready to leave I will just disconnect the extend line and push the cylinder up until I get it back to hanger.

I suppose it is possible that the fluid level was low, and it all got pumped into the cylinder so that now it is pumping air.

The bigfoot is unusual in that it is pumped down, and pumped up - most brands use springs to retract so all that has to happen is to open a valve.

Before disconnecting the line I would put pressure upward on the jack while someone hits the manual retract - if it is a fluid problem that will take care of itself as soon as some flows back in. I hesitate to recommend dumping fluid in, because if wrong you would be overfull.

Unhappy M380 Jack stuck half way down

Don

yep I will give that a try.

I looked in the reservoir and with the jack stuck halfway down it has about a half inch of fluid in bottom. It says iy should be one half to a quarter inch from the top when fully retracted. So it might be air in pump. But I will push it up while doing the emergency retract and see if it moves.

Thanks

The pump motor is running fine. The jack just does not move. It seems be a fluid issue. Like the pump has failed not the motor.
