Gardner, you are right, and I feel guilty when we go to our steam engine shows and Karen patiently walks through the market section with me.

There are very few items for sale at Wal Mart that Roberta hasn't hand in her hands at one time or the other.

funny stuff.

And sometimes i add things to the cart in front of me,just to add some excitement!
When I helped my customers shop in that manner and I got caught, not a one accepted my explaination. You see, I really knew they wanted that extra item---they just did not know it.

Just a note-- and just realize this info may be dated as I am older and while I have never forgotten anything, my information retrieval system does not always work.

Normally the A enrage sales per customer is about $20.00
The average price per item is about $2.00

Therefore, if you want a 10% increase in sales, just sell (or in Randy's case-put) each customer ONE MORE ITEM!
Before you number crunchers chastise me, I realize this is only a 9.090909% increase on retail. Also, if you go and try to authenticate my statement, while the numbers may vary some, the basic premise is accurate.

Another side note---5% of your customers (Randy) cause 95% of your complaints.

Also 80% of your sales come from 20% of your products.

I hate shopping with a passion....even for things I need. I want to get in, get it, get out. My wife on the other hand, will take time to look at things she doesn't even need or want!

Back in our boating days, we'd sail to some destination and the ladies would visit all the local shops while they guys would have a seat on the local park bench and shoot the breeze until they got back. This is the basis for my yet to be released (or started) book, "The Benches of Ottawa County". The gentleman's guide to waiting patiently.

One time I got a case off toilet paper and another case of coffee. When the clerk looked at m I explained that "I make shitty coffee"

All the ladies in line stepped back!
