Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out.

A couple WOG members may recognize the “custom” power steering pump bracket ;-)

reman air compressor, power steering pump, Horton fan clutch, alternator, sensors, muffler, etc., etc., on a reman “dropin” — should be good for a few more years/miles... and, adding new magnum inverter/charger and Lifeline batteries (stay tuned...)...and, much more to come (face it, the adventure never ends...)

Let’s call it “preventative maintenance”...
210K on the current engine — planning on another 100k in near future...
Gotta “get home” on Sunday night, and from that “long trip” too...
And, it just seemed cheap, compared to the depreciation on an SOB alternative
Got the CAC and radiator hooked up tonight, will add fluids tomorrow,
then crank it... on track to be at WOG PM on Monday, with at stop at a
Bluegrass festival on the way...
Wish me luck!

Reviva got $12,700 for my reman dropin (incl. shipping both ways)...
This particular core had been “rebuilt” (not completely reman’d) by Cat Denver at 170K...

Rick, I look forward to our WOG PM campfire discussion, and, I hope you will be willing to do an inspection of our work, and help me prioritize the next projects that will assure me that I will always get home on Sunday night
