Default Oshkosh Air Show- July 27-Aug 2, 2009

Would anyone be interested in Boondocking at the EAA AirVenture next July? A group of 15 or so bird owners met up there last summer (2007) and we had a blast. Was kicking around the idea of going back next summer and thought that I'd start asking around. Allen Ritchie, a fellow Bluebird owner, is on the BOD of EAA and could help us get some nice parking if we let him know how many coaches would attend by late this year.

I was one of those that attended EAA 2007 AirVenture at Oshkosh, WI. last year and it was an experience that I will remember for the rest of my life, I thoroughly enjoyed myself and the museum there was one of the best aviation museums that I have ever been in. You can see more photos of the 2007 Wanderlodge gathering there by clicking on the museum photo below, or the link. Once the photo reopens, then just click on NEXT at the right of each page to take to the next one.

While my schedule for next year will prevent my attending the EAA 2009 AirVenture I highly recommend it, especially if you haven't been there before and a revisit to the event would be great too.

For more information about the 2009 AirVenture just click on the picture below or the link.

Shane,
It's a thought, more likley in 2010 though. I would guess you take 2 days to get there from Pa. It would be 2.5 for me from NJ. I would find 8 hour driving days a long haul. But the new coach is far easier to drive. So I would leave Saturday the 25th, get there Monday the 27th, leave Sunday the 2nd and get home Tuesday the 4th.
That's 7 vacation days.. Hmmmm. Lets hope fuel doesn't spike again.

What are the area protographic possabilities?

Last time, we took 2 days, but you really only need one if there are two drivers. Assuming that Kathy has not "taken the reins" by then, we could meet you at the Flying J in Hubbard, OH and spend the night there. It's about 6 hours from Hershey and probably the same from your location too. The next day, we would be there around 5 PM if we left at 7 AM from the Flying J.

Shane,
I still need to do some advance work before bringing up the idea. As far as kathy taking the reins: very unlikley. To be honest, I don't know if I could handle it.

Is Kelly taking on driving time?

I had signed up for the '07 meeting but had to canel due to many work related issues. I am interested in 2009 and will plan work accordingly. I have much more flexibility and control now than back then. As a pilot, I have always wanted to go. If I make it as an RV jockey, so be it.

Hi Shane: I'm interested in AirVenture 2009 http://www.eaa.org/airventure/ @ Oshkosh...Pat's mom lives in Monroe, WI.

Last evening I went aloft in my C-172 and checked on the high-water on the Gasconade River...crested yesterday 5 days after Ike passed through.

The new control tower is finished at Whittman Regional Airport and EAA continues to make improvements to the facilities.
