Default Roomy engine compartment.

I I don't know why everyone says there is no room under the hood. Get the AC coil, CAC, Radiator, fan, and exhaust out and there is lots of room.
My mechanic is going to do a tune up tomorrow. (points and plugs I think) Got New hoses ordered. And a rebuilt Radiator and CAC and new Stephen exhaust system ready to go back in.

Yep Randy, could not resist touching up the paint a little. New insulation too.
All this is a result of the AC radiator being mounted to close and rubbing a hole in the CAC, causing lost of boost. Exhaust need to be replaced so opportune time to get in there and replace hoses too.

Call me a newbie (which I am) and I really appreciate the nice picture of the series 60 Detroit Diesel - although I am confused many times by the acronyms that are used with the assumption that everyone knows what is being referred to...what is the CAC?

Ben
Ben,

That is why we have most of them listed, with the exception of those TEXT abbreviations which shouldn't be used here on WOG anyway, you can find the ones that relate to WOG at; Wanderlodge Owners Group > Frequently Asked Questions > How to use the Forum Features > Abbreviations and Acronyms, Using Them In Your Posted Messages And What They Mean

Sorry! Now I know where to look when I come across these letters that I'm not familiar with. Are the charge air coolers on the diesel engines used in Bluebirds all air to air coolers (like a conventional radiator)? The reason I ask is that the engines I work with use both air to air and water to air...as my "handle" implies I am a Mercedes Benz mechanic and over the years we have used both. I will have to admit when I learned the Detroit Diesels were 2 stroke that threw me for a loop, and I still have some research to do to fully understand that whole concept.
Thanks again for the help - I'm trying to learn all I can, and this forum is the Encyclopedia of the net.
