We have passport America. We don't use it a lot, but it only takes a couple nights to pay for itself. Parks are older but not bad from our experience. All we've stayed at were dump stations, no sewer. But, had electric and water. For overnight, electric is good enough for us.

Yes, Passport America is good! We joined many years ago. Our first stay saved us more than the yearly fee! We do not need all the "foo-foo" amenities. The majority of our nights are spent in campgrounds not Wally/Cracker Barrel/truck stops. We just want electricity, water and a place to dump. In 14 years of Bird travel, i don't remember a time I have ever used a campground bathroom......I know how, when and by whom ours was cleaned! The state park at Savannah is very nice....can't think of the name.......I have no info about Hardeeville CG.

Passport America has a deal right now where they give you 3months extra on the 1year membership. I saw it available on Camping World and asked about it when I talked to PA on the phone the were happy to honor that offer, there may be other deals out there to.

We've never been to that one, but we did use the Red Gate Campground about 4 years ago. It was nice. They have a nice laundry according to my wife. They messed up our reservation for a 50 amp site and the first night was on them. They got us on a 50 amp site the next day and we were ok with it. We were there about 4 days I think. It is a good location, just off of the Veterans Pkwy. for easy access to anything in town.

passport america is a no brainer - 2 nites at a cg pays for it. We probably use it 10 times a year. Excellent especially not in season for area travelled.

Skidaway Island is the state park, about 10-15 min drive from the old part of Savannah. We stayed a week late fall and really enjoyed it. You are in the middle of nature and within a short drive from town.

Also belong to Passport America, sometimes it is surprising the (high) quality of the parks - usually we don't go for the over $50/night parks, but with PA all of a sudden they are a lot more reasonable!

Rodney, it has been a few years since we stayed at Hardeeville campground in SC. It was fine and a young couple had just purchased it and had some great improvement plans. Also, this campground is right across the bridge from Savannah. Other than the city, nothing is close to the campground in SC.

We also like to camp on Tybee Island, GA. There is a trolley service from the campground into Savannah, however, it may depend on the number of people going into the city. Staying here you have the beach/island environment and easy access to the city.

Passport America is a good deal. It can pay for itself with just a couple of nights camping.

Default yes to Hardeeville RV

It has been a few years since we have been in this area, but we have stayed at this park several tines. Site #220 was our favorite.
