Default Kohler-Yanmar Glow Plug Relay

We took a cold weather short trip last weekend and had difficulty starting the generator. After checking, I'm not getting 12v to the glow plugs. When I press the preheat switch, I hear the relay close. There is 12v going into the relay. With the switch pressed and the relay closed, there is not 12v on the output terminal that goes to the glow plugs.

I'm guessing the relay is bad. I could not find a number on the relay. Anyone have a reference to the relay part number for this application?

Thanks,

Glenn

I pulled the relay and matched it up at NAPA. The relay is a ST85 that is 85amp rated for continuous duty with copper contacts.

Put the new relay on the generator this afternoon and the glow plugs are able to do their job. It started up just fine after a little pre-heat.

Glenn,

Can you tell me the location of the relay you replaced. I do not hear a click when I push my genset rocker switch to stop to run the glow plugs before pushing to start.

I think I may have a bad relay as well.

My Yanmar will not even start below 40 degrees.

Thanks

It is close to the fuel pump on the passenger side. I think it is above the fuel pump. I will take a look this evening if you can't find it.
