Thumbs up Use a Tape Recorder

Carry a tape recorder with you as you inspect the 'Bird and make verbal notes, that can be more detailed in their description than a hand written note, especially if you are like me, where an hour after I write a note...I can't read my own handwriting.

I got to thinking that there might be some of our members out there that hadn't though of this themselves, so there is your tip for today and thanks to Rick Davis for bringing it up and reminding me, just recently while talking to Randy he told me that Rick, who just purchased Randy's old 'Bird, carried a tape recorder with him while he did the walk around with Randy as he described all of the systems and features on Rick's new to him 'Bird.

I have for years carried a tape recorder stored close to the drivers seat to make verbal notes on while I was driving, such as, check out what sounds like a rear end noise, or a vibration at a certain speed, etc.... because if I don't record the thought then...I may not remember it so that I can write it down when I stopped. I also use it to make a note of my odometer reading when I fuel up, so I can figure my mileage when I fuel up the next time.

John, I use a Sony micro for work, actually we use 2 for our auctions. The neat thing is I can download to the computer for future references & when I do an appraisal it is good reference and much quicker then taking notes.

I have had two small digital recorders designed for reminders, etc. Since I suffer from CRS, (Can't Remember, uh, um, Something or other), I thought they would be a help. They worked ok for a while, but both ended up failing. I don't think they like being carried around in your pants pocket. At close to $50 each I gave up on the technology.

nowadays there's a recorder built-in to most cell phones. check and see if there's one in yours.
