Caterpillar 3208 Solutions This sub-forum is hosted by Mike Hohnstein who has been at this kind of thing for 50+ years now, guess I'm addicted. The saga has been all about progressively larger shop space since then. Honestly, never wanted to get into the CAT 3208's that were originally considered to be a throwaway engine but that's all that works in a FC in my world. Same thing with my Ford toter, that came with a NA, too much effort to hang in a 6, so been at it with the CAT V-8 for 20 years now. In reality you can get excellent life out of a CAT 3208 if it's built correctly. Post your questions about the CAT 3208 engines here and Mike will try to help you out.

Thanks Dave . If the #994314 is the correct kit there are lots of options. The Horton #s on their site for the origional Horton # 601220 are different.

Hello all. My name is Larry Brudzynski and I am the same Larry that has been mentioned here from fanclutch.com. After helping several members here with the fan clutch conversions I figured I would join the Forum and make it easier for you to get ahold of me if needed. I don't have a lot of detailed experience with the Blue Birds, but have a vast knowledge in regards to the diesel engine. I hope that I will be another helpful tool to the other members here. I look forward to speaking and helping out in any way I can.

I just got finished doing my Horton fan clutch job. I contacted Larry @ Superior Turbo Injection after reading John's post. A note that the extension has changed to x604. The number still is 313-842-4616. Larry is VERY knowledgeable and makes the entire process as painless as can be.

If you choose not to do it yourself I must warn you that there is a difference between 2 pulley and 3 pulley set ups. The three pulley one is obsolete and you must reman the one you have. If you don't care about having your a/c then you can get a complete reman 2 pulley set up. Also if you have Larry reman your unit for you, his shop can also repair the journal bracket shaft. Mine needed this so I was happy to have Larry do this for me.

You may want to check out other accessories while doing this job. I replaced my air compressor with a reman Bendix unit, new H20 pump, hoses, new fan, Horton solenoid & thermal switch, etc...

I have a 23" fan that mistakenly was shipped to me instead of the 25" one that I ordered. If you want it please contact me.

Sorry for the upside down pic.....
