We had an awesome time! I've been busy with work since getting back and did not have time to load any pics. Tom did a great job promoting the rally and the horse track was really glad to have us there too. The local newspaper picked up on the rally and had a full-color, front page picture of Dad and I putting out the rug in front of "Bella Vita". After reading the article, we felt like a bunch of 50 cent millonaires. A few of the projects included rebuilding a Racor 900 FG, replacing belts on a Series 60, disassembly and cleaning of an air-step solenoid. ****, Gardener really raised the bar and stuck a brand-spankin' new Williams Air Throttle in his FC. There were some other projects that I was not part of. I had to baby sit the smoker to make sure that no theives were sampling the brisket. There were 9 coaches and around 25 people there. I'm sure that some pics will pop up soon too.

Default observations of a Wannabee

The Warner Rally at Vernon reinforced the idea that owning one of these machines is financially impractical without a great deal of owner mechanical input. Each of the owners was especially friendly and well kitted out to work on their Birds. Shane showed me his engine compartment which would pass aircraft maintenance standards. Tom Warner was everywhere and helping with any project. He has a vast knowledge of all of the systems and it is worthwhile for any owner to attend this Rally as a learning experience. It is evident that Tom and Marj put a lot of effort into hosting this rally and I regret that I couldn't stay longer. ***************. I enjoy spending time the way these owners do and hope to one day be an owner.

Default Tom Warner's Rally

This was my first time at this rally and only the second rally since we bought our bird about a year and a half ago. Every time we use it I learn something else about it. This rally was no exception. Lots of positive reinforcement for guys like me who are a little nervous about taking things apart while in a field in the middle of New York State. Not to worry-everything went back together. Finally had someone tell me where the high idle is (it's the cruise control switch)(Owners manual just said it's a switch on the dash). Made up some new battery cables thanks to Tom's swaging tool, and replaced the belts for my dash air.
Shane's brisket was the highlight of the event, and there was even the Wonder Lodge International Trophy Race (fourth race) at Vernon Downs on Saturday night. Two of our group got to present the trophy (what trophy?) to the winner of the race. Plus, with the local paper coverage, wannabees and the just plain curious came out to see what we are all about.
While we worked on our projects, the ladies were off to a tour of the Oneida Castle. Interesting history there. I don't think anyone found a strange pair of shoes outside their door Saturday morning.
I am sure the more experienced may have a different take on the event, but it was a definite two thimbs up from me.

RVBusiness picked up on it, too.
