You guys should lay off the bowl or something. I need to tell my oil guy that the dexron III/Mercon he's filling my bulk tank with is a illusion. Checked with Oreillys, on the shelf 6 bucks a qt. That being said, and a upgrade is just something ya think will be a magic bullet for the transmission, fill up with engine oil, maybe some tractor transmission oil, transynd is over priced unicorn pi$$.

Dexron was good enough for the first 380K in my tranny and I'm sticking with it. And as an added benefit, when you carry spare Dexron with you, you can always use it to fill the fuel filters when you change them. Much easier than chasing down a small amount of clean diesel and works like a charm.

My point was just that there's no name brand Dex2/3 out there, it's all generic stuff and I have no idea if it's any good or not. I have some Mobil 1 synthetic stuff here to swap in, but then I read about all this stuff and I never did it.

He says there is no way any seals that were compatible with dex 3 will fail with Transynd. He says if you are cheap run dex 3, but there's no risk in changing to Transynd. Just saying, I read just about everything I've seen him post online.

My 2 cents in this discussion...

I would not change the fluid and filter on an old MT-643 trans.

Two years ago, I was preparing for my 50th birthday cross country road trip - had 2 months off work. I worked on my FC-35 all summer in preparation, doing all the maintenance I could think of. Thought it would be good for me to drain my trans and change the internal filters. I had owned the Wanderlodge for 12 years and 25,000 miles, and never changed the fluid.

So I put my rig on ramps, dropped the trans pan. Replaced the internal filters. Put in new trans fluid. Thought I was being super pro-active.

Well, the transmission stopped shifting into first gear just days before I was leaving. Had to buy a camper and tow it behind my truck. Dropped the Wanderlodge at the trans shop as I headed out of town.

Tried to sell the camper this summer, but learned it has water damage in the roof. I should have never changed that fluid!

Try the Transmission or the ZF section of the file downloads.
